Marketing Insights: Why Results Take Time

Franchise Operations & Marketing Manager, Joanne Reynolds, shares why successful marketing takes time to deliver results.

One of the most common questions I hear from franchisees is:

"I've started marketing my business, so why haven't the enquiries started flooding in?"

It's a completely understandable question, particularly for new franchisees who are investing time, energy and money into building awareness in their local area.

The reality is that successful marketing rarely comes from one leaflet drop, one social media post or one magazine advert.

Instead, it comes from consistency.

Over the years, I've worked with franchisees at every stage of their business journey, from new start-ups launching their territory to established operators who have been trading for decades. One thing remains true for all of them: the businesses that market consistently tend to achieve the strongest long-term results.

Building Awareness Before Customers Need You
One of the biggest misconceptions in marketing is that customers see an advert and immediately make an enquiry.

While that does occasionally happen, it's far more common for customers to see your business multiple times before taking action.

They may notice your van locally, come across your social media page, see a leaflet through their door and hear your name mentioned by a friend before they finally make contact.

By that point, you've already built familiarity and trust.

That's why visibility matters.

The Franchisees Who See Success
Across the Safeclean network, the franchisees who achieve the best marketing results are rarely those looking for a quick win.

They're the ones who consistently show up in their local communities.

They keep their social media active.
They maintain local advertising.
They stay visible.
They continue promoting their business even when they're busy.

Over time, that consistency compounds.

Why Stopping and Starting Doesn't Work
Marketing is much like fitness.

Going to the gym once won't transform your health.

Equally, running one advert won't transform your business.

The real benefits come from showing up regularly and building momentum over time.

When marketing stops, visibility starts to fade. Competitors remain active, new customers don't discover your business and opportunities can be missed.

My Advice to Franchisees
If I could give one piece of marketing advice, it would be this:

Be patient, but be consistent.

Focus less on the results from a single activity and more on whether you're building awareness month after month.

Customers can't choose your business if they don't know you exist.

The businesses that remain visible are often the businesses that customers remember when the need eventually arises.

Marketing is not a one-off campaign. It's an ongoing investment in the future growth of your business.
