Two New Franchisees Join the Team!

February 01, 2018
We are always excited when our network grows as it means we’ve helped another person become a proud business owner and we can provide our fantastic services to more of the UK! Last autumn we welcome two new franchisees to the Safeclean network, both of whom are very eager to get going! Paul Charlton (Safeclean Newcastle) and James Chiverton (Safeclean South Wales) are the 5th and 6th new Safeclean franchise owners in 2017. We recently spoke to our new franchisees about their background and why they chose Safeclean.

Paul Charlton, Safeclean North Newcastle

So Paul, tell us why you decided to take on a Safeclean franchise?
I wanted to join Safeclean as it’s a very well recognised brand and I know people have trust in the quality of work.

Is there anything in particular you are looking forward to?
Mainly I’m looking forward to running my own business! Although I’m nervous, as it’s unchartered territory, I’m looking forward to getting started.

What is it about running your own business that excites you?
Well, aside from the challenge of growing my business and putting myself to the test, I have two small lads and I love nothing more than spending quality time with them; running my own business will give me the freedom to see them more often and watch them in their school plays.

What is your background?
I have worked as a distribution manager at Furniture Village for over 15 years so I have experience in furniture. Although the cleaning aspect is new to me, I understand how keeping furniture in its best condition is very important to customers.

A keen Newcastle United fan, he has taken control of his beloved team’s area and will cover an array of postcodes situated north of the river Tyne. His first day in the field was Monday 9th October; the first Monday after having completed an intense training programme that has set him up with expert knowledge, cleaning techniques and industry leading equipment to get stuck in straight away.

James Chiverton, Safeclean Cardiff & Bridgend

Hello, James. You’re no stranger to Safeclean, but what encouraged you to take on a franchise?
Yes, having worked for Safeclean’s parent company, Guardsman, for the past year I have seen first hand the benefit Safeclean provides consumers. The opportunity to be a part of that and become a business owner was the main driver in my decision. I also want to meet new people and face new challenges every day.

What do you hope to achieve with your new business?
Long term I want to grow the business so it enables me to build a future for myself and my family.

Is there anything you’re particularly looking forward to?
The most exciting thing for me is to be able to do things my way, have control over my time and for my work ethic to be reflected in the success of my business. I am looking forward to visiting new places, seeing new faces and building great relationships with customers who I will work for repeatedly over the coming years.

Sounds great! And what about in your spare time? What do you get up to?
Well I love Formula 1 and I follow the Ferrari team, so parts of my weekend are spent watching that.
I also enjoy long walks with my dog, cooking, reading about and researching cars, watching box sets (mainly Game of Thrones!) and goings on short breaks with friends and family.

A familiar face to Safeclean, James has seen the great work our cleaning technicians do and was eager to be a part of the team. He took the opportunity this year when the Cardiff & Bridgend territory became available and he’s now a fully fledged franchisee. James is already a resident of South Wales so this is an ideal area for him as he knows it well. He can’t wait to work with his customers!
