Sea sponges lead to over 30 years of business
success A humble Hawaiian Sea Sponge may not strike you as the anchor to
a business today but it proved crucial to the start up and success
of Safeclean over 30 years
ago. Founder Desmond Cook located this particular type of sea sponge
10 miles off the coast of Hawaii, it proved to be durable and forgiving
enough to conduct high quality fabric cleaning. Its superb results
paved the way for an opportunity based on excellent service, specialist
knowledge and most importantly, skills and techniques truly unique
to Safeclean. Over the years Safeclean has adapted to the ever changing market
expectations, adopting new mechanised systems and unique concepts
to create one of the most
comprehensive packages in cleaning today. In the early 90s, Safeclean went from private
ownership to today, being part of the Valspar Corporation with
a 2.25 billion
turnover and 8,000 staff worldwide. The equipment and techniques that Safeclean use today give access
to 71 different services, enabling them to match their customer needs. Article by Emma Gilbert (nee Cook) about the Safeclean
story. |
